Row 2: CH 1, turn, HDC across (14)
**Switch to Rosey II
Row 3-18: CH 1, turn, HDC across (14)

Row 19-20: CH 2, turn, HDC across (14)
Fasten off, weave in ends.
The next portion is really personal preference and can be done in any order.
Split your embroidery skein strand, separating 2 pieces from the rest. Thread sewing needle and tie a knot at the end. Pick a spot and slowly embroider a small circle/oval shape, taking care to not work all the way through to the other side. Fasten off when happy and continue throughout the rug, spreading them out.
Fringe:
The last thing is to add fringe to your rug, if you wish to. This is my method:
Wrap yarn around a paper towel roll that has been cut down and one side cut. Once covered, cut yarn through opening that was cut. Match up 2 pieces and pull through stitches on either end. I alternated the green and pink but you could use the solid green if you prefer, you would just need more. Want to see a video of how I do fringe? Check out this YouTube video (fast forward to 25:24) from my Alpine Stitch Mug Rug Pattern.
That’s it! You’re done with your Watermelon mug rug! Want another fun summer pattern? Check out my Freeze Pop Sleeve pattern.
