About me, De

So I’m De. You may have learned a little about Knotty Bliss Boutique on the About Us page, but I want to tell you more about me as a person.

To start I am 23 and graduated college in 2019. I received my bachelor’s degree in Art Education and I now teach elementary art at little rural school to about 400 kindergarten through sixth graders. I love my job and all the crazy fun we have. Some of my favorite things about teaching art: I get to see every kid, I get to be messy, I get to watch students grow in so many ways. I have introduced students to a variety of materials and art processes and I love seeing the looks of “I get this!”

Some other things about me:

I am currently engaged to the love of my life and one of my biggest supporters. He supports me in everything I do, but will tell me when I’m wrong. We are silly together and apart. We share some interests but also introduce to new things to each other all the time.

I adore reading books whether it’s books I’m interested in or reading to my students. Even with distance learning, I read books either on Facebook Live or through Zoom so my students can still have books read to them. Reading has always been a favorite hobby of mine since I was a child.

I’m a trained painter in acrylic, oil, and watercolor. Of the three, watercolor is my absolute favorite because of how fluid it is to work with. I also enjoy adding simple inked lines to my paintings for an illustrative look. I enjoy painting abstract works of art this way and to play with color.

When it comes to the world of crochet, I’ve been doing that for over 14 years now. I learned as a child from my grandmother and then taught myself many things like more complicated stitches and how to work in the round. Now I design patterns and make finished items. I take a lot of pride in what I make.

As an artist I dabble in a little bit of everything from painting to plaster and everything in between. I mostly make art for myself as a stress relief and to push myself in new ways. I know how to weld, make sculptures, and incorporate odd and new materials into art. Art has always been a passion that I’ve done all of my life and I’m always finding new ways to expand what I know. a colorful piece of abstract art a peony painted in watercolor rainbow background with a stack of books, fairy, and light post drawn in black
