Moss Stitch Coffee Cup Sleeve

I’ve been drinking a lot more coffee (particularly peppermint mochas) lately and I just had to make a to go coffee cup sleeve for my cups! I’ve been obsessed with the moss stitch recently and had to play with it plus a ribbing. So I worked up a coffee cup sleeve with the moss stitch and I’m loving the texture and simplicity. Another free pattern on the blog, I’m happy to share the Moss Stitch Coffee Cup Sleeve. It works up quick and is great for scrap buster. I can make one up in under an hour.

I think this pattern would be good for beginners, especially those who already know how to work in the round. It only uses chains and single crochets. Moss Stitch Coffee Cup Sleeve Pattern

You’ll need:

• worsted weight cotton yarn
  • I used I love this cotton
• 4.5 mm hook
• Scissors
• Tape Measure
• Yarn Needle

Gauge: Not important really, band should measure 8.5 inches long before seamed.

Finished Size: 4 inches wide by 4 inches tall, should stretch to fit a cup that is 9.5-10 inches in circumference

Pattern:

Band: CH 6

Row 1: SC in 2nd CH from hook (5)

Row 2-32: CH 1, SC BLO across (5)

Match Row 1 and Row 32 together and SL ST through both layers to connect

Turn band right side out.

Body of Sleeve:

Round 1: CH 1, SC around with 1 SC going into the end of each row, SL ST to 1st SC (32)

Round 2: CH 1, SC in 1st ST *CH 1, SK 1, SC in next* Repeat around, SL ST last CH to 1st SC, Turn. 

Round 3-11: CH 1, SC in CH 1 space from previous round * CH 1, SK 1, SC in CH space* around, SL ST last CH to 1st SC. 

Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Final Thoughts

I just love how this texture works up using the moss stitch. It’s so simple, but amazing and always gives some squish to the final product.
